The Basque Country receives the visit of people interested in learning more about systems to guarantee the management of continuous training and quality applied in Basque VET centres

Heads of the Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education, a government agency responsible for supervising Higher Vocational Education in Sweden are currently visiting the Basque Country. The purpose of the visit is to learn more about the models and systems designed by the Basque VET system to guarantee the management of continuous training at its Vocational Education and Training centres and the quality of its services, particularly the way in which these systems are applied at the Basque centres.

Accompanied by heads of Tknika’s Continuous Improvement Department – by means of different meetings held yesterday at Tknika – they were able to see how the latter went about designing the said quality systems, and how they have later guided the VET centres in their application.

In the morning, and with a view to taking a look at a practical case in situ, the Swedish heads of Higher Vocational Education visited the Usurbil Integrated Professional Education Centre. During the visit, the centre heads explained how these models and management and quality systems are applied at the centre on a day-to-day basis.

Following the visits and the meetings, the Swedish representatives said that they had found the practical experiences they had been shown very interesting, voicing their desire to define potential areas of collaboration. They will even analyse the possibility of being able to apply the quality and management systems designed by the Basque VET at their centres, taking the necessary steps for their adaptation to the characteristics and needs of Swedish Higher VET.

This exchange with the Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education comes about as the result of an earlier visit made by members of Tknika’s Continuous Improvement Department to the Scandinavian country in May 2016. During that first contact, Sweden already stated its interest in learning more about the practical angle of how questions related to continuous improvement and quality were worked with and applied in the Basque VET.
