On November 27th it started the 4th Edition of the Circular Economy Course of Fp Euskadi Under the title “From Linear Economy to Circular Economy, towards a sustainable VET” in Tknika, Basque Centre for Applied Research in VET, taught by staff of the Bioscience and Sustainability area, including Garbiñe Lopez, expert of the SMALEI project.

The aim of this training is to introduce teachers to the basic concepts of circular economy as a strategy to fight against climate change, but not only that, but also for teachers to design and develop specific activities to be implemented in their centres or carried out by their students.

Mari Jose Barriola, director of the area, has explained how important is the implementation of the circular economy in Basque VET centres, from agricultural schools to electronics, from hairdressing to automotive schools. In this course, she mentioned the importance of raising awareness among teachers and the commitment of our VET students. So, in this context, she explained the purpose of the SMALEI project and the awareness of local and European institutions on sustainability and how the SMALEI projects will collect information on best practices and so on and help ALE institutions to become more sustainable.

During these three days, the course participants have been trained on European environmental regulation such as the European Green Deal and GreenComp “European Sustainable Competence Framework ” and the Basque (Basque Green Deal) regulation and its development strategies and tools.

At the end of the course participants will have created a challenge of their own specialisation based on the Circular Economy in order to implement it in the classroom.
