Next 14 February, the 8th Ikasenpresa fair will be held in Eibar. Between 10:00 and 13:00, those attending the exhibition will have the opportunity to visit different school companies created by Vocational Education and Training students in Euskadi throughout the year.

The number of Ikasenpresas participating is 376, plus 2 others from the Eibar Basic Vocational Educational and Training Centre collaborating in the organisation. Thus, the rising trend in participation is confirmed, since 317 Ikasenpresas attended last year.

On the other hand, there will be 2.000 students exhibiting their products and services all throughout the 3 tents occupying the Unzaga Square this morning.

What is Ikasenpresa?
Ikasenpresa is an educational program that is developed around the creation of school companies in the classroom. The aim of this project is to offer an approach to the business world into the classroom, focusing on the development of entrepreneurial skills (creativity, innovation, team work, decision making, initiative, leadership, commitment and determination, negotiation, etc.), to stimulate the approach to other cultures and social realities and to promote the cooperation among schools.

Ikasenpresa creates an innovative educational context and uses a practical learning methodology that includes the management of new technologies (e-mail, videoconference, use of foreign languages, etc.), work tools and communication; all of them considered to be essential resources in nowadays information society.

What is it being done?
Students create a small company in which they carry on all the related business activities, such as corporate image, administration, marketing, buying and selling, etc. All products are real and students are one in charge of making and selling them. Each company is assigned with a partner, which is another school company. They maintain trade relations, they do market researches and they exchange the product catalog between them and, finally, they do a trade.

Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to participate in a congress where, in addition to exhibiting their business ideas, they participate in different workshops.
