CLIMAVERSE: climate change education for secondary schools using metaverse

Objectives
The pandemic disrupted traditional education, highlighting its inadequacy to embrace technology, while the education system must leverage technology to improve the learning experience.
By 2026, 25% of the population is expected to spend an hour daily in the Metaverse, making it a dominant technology. CLIMA-VERSE project aims to enhance formal education’s capacity to manage Metaverse and exploit it to develop key sustainable development competences among students.

Activities
Partners will develop a green curriculum based on the GreenComp for creating environmental scenarios in the Metaverse to promote green education and climate responsibility. Educators will receive a specific training mobility on the CLIMA-VERSE curriculum and will organize learning experiences with their students to test it. Their feedback will be gathered to finalize the project results and develop guidelines for the best use of the CLIMA-VERSE virtual reality.

Impact
CLIMA-VERSE will achieve the following results:
-A curriculum for secondary schools promoting sustainable development education will be created and it will be replicated it in a virtual environment on the Metaverse
-Educators and teachers will undergo a training mobility and receive related materials about Metaverse and the curriculum
-Guidelines for teachers and students will also be provided to enhance their learning experience.
