On September 11th, 2024, Tknika presented the AIRinVET project’s mapping findings and framework proposal during the Applied Research in VET Workshops session at the prestigious Forum on Vocational Excellence, held at Université Gustave Eiffel, Lyon. This event brought together leading European experts, educators, and innovators to exchange ideas on the evolving landscape of applied research in Vocational Education and Training (VET). This year the Forum was held together with the prestigious World Skills Competition.
Key Insights from AIRinVET
During the workshop, Iñigo Araiztegui, representing Tknika, shared a comprehensive overview of the insights and findings from the AIRinVET project. The primary discussion focused on refining and clarifying the concepts of applied research and vocational education and training (VET), setting the stage for an engaging dialogue. Participants explored how applied research, while traditionally more prominent in higher education, plays its role in enhancing the quality, relevance, and innovation within VET institutions.
Collaboration with DIHUB, Challenger, and BARCOVE
The session highlighted the remarkable synergy between the AIRinVET project and the ongoing efforts of other projects such as DIHUB, the Challenger Project, and BARCOVE. These teams have been conducting parallel research into the same field, and their findings closely align with AIRinVET’s insights, reinforcing the value of collaboration and knowledge-sharing across initiatives. This alignment underscored the growing recognition of applied research as a key driver of excellence in VET, not only in Europe but globally.
Presenting the Framework Proposal
Following the initial discussions, Tknika unveiled the AIRinVET framework proposal, a critical step forward in structuring and advancing applied research within VET institutions. This framework is designed to provide a comprehensive and adaptable model that VET providers can implement to enhance research activities, foster innovation, and create stronger connections between industry and education.
The framework proposal opened the floor to a more detailed knowledge and validation activity scheduled to take place at Tknika in October 2024. This event will provide a vital opportunity to test and optimize the framework with input from experts and stakeholders across the VET sector.
A Glimpse into the Future of VET Research
The discussions and exchanges throughout the workshop were truly inspiring. They reflected a shared commitment to enhancing applied research within VET and ensuring that it remains a cornerstone of innovation and excellence in vocational education.
As the AIRinVET project continues to advance, Tknika looks forward to further collaboration and knowledge-sharing with its partners, as well as the opportunity to drive meaningful change in the world of vocational education and training.
