In today’s world, more and more devices are connected. These have to be able to communicate with other devices in the same sector and sometimes also with devices in another sector. Very often, an almost instantaneous data transmission speed is needed, and the question is how to achieve this speed. Also, by connecting more devices, more data is generated, and new tools are required to store and manage this vast amount of data. But who, how and where to keep and manage this data?
One of the first objectives of the project will be to report on the changes in technology that are currently taking place in the area of communications. Here we will explain the improvements brought by the new standards of mobile and Wi-Fi networks. Although the infrastructure for the use of these new standards is still being set up, we will explain the new 5G and Wi-Fi 6 technology.
As already mentioned, these days almost instantaneous (real-time) communications are required in order to achieve improvements in the processes of different sectors. With this new technology, more devices can be connected to each other, we will have better coverage, the data transfer speed will be higher and we will have lower latency. Thanks to all of this, we are beginning to see autonomous vehicles that guarantee our safety. In another area such as medicine, surgical operations can be performed remotely and safely, obtaining better results. And in industry major advantages can also be obtained, improving productivity and increasing profits. In this way, we can see countless and unexpected improvements in different sectors.
In addition, as a second objective of the project, we will explain what cloud computing is, what services are offered in the cloud, who are the main providers, and the advantages and disadvantages of hiring these services. And finally, we will analyse the costs and savings involved in hiring them.
As an example, taking into account the large number of services offered in the cloud, we will focus on services related to the IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things), which will be an integral part of the Tknika IoM project. Until now, it has been possible to view and manage our laboratory data, but what if we need to view and manage data from different laboratories? Wouldn’t it be useful to be able to see and change data centrally? But in order to achieve this, the appropriate infrastructure will have to be set up and maintained, which requires knowledge and financial investment. Wouldn’t it be better to be able to hire these services, without having to worry about installation and maintenance and focusing only on our business data? We will try to answer all these questions in this project.
Finally, we will transfer the acquired knowledge to vocational training teachers interested in the subject through courses, webinars or other media to be defined.
